I Hate Running - Log 8: Breathing Easy

Last week, I made a last minute decision to add a fourth day into my running routine. Sunday is now going to be what I've decided to call a "Challenge Day" where I don't necessarily stick my schedule for the week. I'm going to use it as day to push myself a bit more and see if I can run longer, for at least one interval. Last Sunday, I made it to 7 minutes, which the longest I've run at one time so far!

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I did four intervals where I ran for 5 minutes and walked for 2 minutes.

The most notable thing about this week is that it's becoming easier and easier to breathe normally while running. Based on my breathing, I feel like I could keep going for a lot longer. The caveat is that my legs will now get to a point where they just don't want to go any further! But, I know that they will catch up soon - they're getting stronger every time I go out. I also took some time this week to map out run and determine how far I've been going. To my surprise, I've been running about 2.2 miles, which is a lot farther than I expected.

On tap for next week: Challenge Day on Sunday. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday my intervals will be 6 minutes of running and 2 minutes of walking for 30 minutes total.

1st- I love these posts

2nd- After 2 months off I am running tomorrow morning! Yay!

3rd- Have you read Runner's World Run Less Run Faster? I am sure they wrote it for the more ambitious than I type runners, but I love it and find it incredibly motivating. I am not going to run a race of any sort, but I love the outline they provide for improvement. I call it my Runner's Bible.

After my second son was born I started running, I did 2 min walking 2 min running, I lost so much weight in that time, I could never get to a full 10 min of running...my lungs and legs just could not take it. Good luck with the running! Hope you are well, movers are here today...ah we are nearly there!

And thank you for putting me on your blog roll, so delighted to see myself among such great sites!
